Barbecue teams do not get much sleep during a competition but still need a place to lie down between shifts. You may find some curled up in a chair by their pits, cramped up on a mattress in their mini-van, packed into tents, or comfy on a bed in a custom rig. Some teams even take advantage of discounted rates offered by exclusive host hotels and experience a bit of luxury during competitions – complete with hot showers!
Certified Barbecue Judges also need a place to sleep during competitions as many of them travel all around the country, all on their own dime, just for the privilege and fun of judging some of the best barbecue meat around.
